In parallelogram ABCD, AC = 4x + 2 and BD = 22 find x. 更新: But I don't understand about why AC is equal to BD... Isn't that AC and BD just bisect each other into two equal parts? But why is that AC equals BD? Can anyone please explain?

First of all, AC=BD You can draw a parallelogram and label each angle as A,B,C or D. No matter how you label them, AC is still = BD. So just put the terms like that: 4x+2=22 4x=20 x=5. ...................... Check: 4(5)+2=22 20+2=22 22=22 So 4x+2=22, which means AC=BD. 2009-11-24 08:29:17 補充： AC=BD, Because it a parallelogram! Draw a parrallelogram on a paper, and you will see why. Parallel basically means on the same line, so they will never intersect, which they were drawn to the same direction, and were drawn to be not intersecting.
